Are you curious about the business of film? What is a film sales agent and how do they differ to, and work with, a distributor? How does a film receive a distribution deal before it's even made? What were all those "meetings" at the European Film Market really all about???

If you've ever wondered about any of this, then join us for our next on the couch Guest Session with Films Boutique's Head of Sales & Marketing, Louis Balsan (fresh from this year's Berlinale!).

When: Tuesday 5th March, 18:15
Where: CoMingle, dBs Film Berlin, Funkhaus Berlin
FB: www.facebook.com/events/2193258497644183

In conversation with dBs Film Programme Lead, Matthieu Schmidt, we'll get a sneak peek behind the scenes of this critical (but often mysterious to outsiders) world of getting a film from script to screen.

// About Louis
Louis Balsan started his career in corporate finance, before joining French studio EuropaCorp to coordinate international releases of Arthur & The Minimoys and Transporter franchises. After moving to the arthouse production and sales outfit Funny Balloons, he oversaw the launch and international career of acclaimed films like NO (Pablo Larrain), GLORIA (Sebastian Lelio), PASOLINI (Abel Ferrara), among others.

Relocating to Berlin with Films Boutique in 2015 as head of sales, he took an active part in the success of films like Oscar nominated EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT (Ciro Guerra), DIVINES (Houda Benyamina), ON BODY & SOUL (Ildiko Enyedi), and more recently BORDER (Ali Abbasi) and BIRDS OF PASSAGE (Cristina Gallego & Ciro Guerra).

He’s a graduate from ESCP Europe, TU Berlin and the Sorbonne.

// About Films Boutique
Films Boutique is an independent Berlin-based international sales company specialised in distribution of innovative feature films by filmmakers from all over the world. Only 10 to 15 new titles are added to the line-up per year as they are going back to basics: treating films as works of art and concentrating on a limited number of high profile titles. TLDR; a world sales agent with a heart, slightly obsessed with arthouse & documentary films.
